Hang on sloopy.....

Man oh man -- this kid keeps hanging on! It has been 2 weeks since the last post cause I really though this would be over by now!

Well 2 weeks ago the Dr's appointment went well -- dilated to a little over 2cm, 65% effaced, and baby at -1.

Last week -- dilated to a 3, 75% effaced and baby at 0 position.

and yet ......... here we still are. I even tried to eat spicy food and do yard work Saturday and still nothing. I have a feeling that this does not bode well...... all I can assume is that he is going to take after his mom in the 'stubborn' department. I bet he waits until the day we are going to induce just to prove he has the power (reference to He-man since he was once Skeletor -- see previous pictures)

They say thunder storms help to induce labor -- and I am here to attest that is a load! We have had thunder storms for 2 weeks almost straight and still nothing!

Now all I can do is limp around the house all pigeon toed to try to hold my ever-so-stretching crotch bones together as the shear weight of the baby increases! I was hoping to go early so he would not be the estimated 8.5 lbs -- I was thinking a good 7 or so would be do-able and perfectly healthy but it seems he has other plans.

Seriously -- if this is what it feels like to have osteitis pubis I pity any athlete with that diagnosis - it is miserable. And now my pubic symphysis is popping when I rock side to side. Given all this laxity I am seriously getting concerned that I will be over 4-5cm dilated when I get to the hospital and it will be too late for an epidural ----- what are the chances I can get one now and just leave it in ...??? may have to bring that up with Dr tomorrow!

Well -- hopefully this will be my last post cause he will come out any minute -- but if my theorem holds true I will be posting all the way until 5/20 our induction date -- doesn't that sound kinda weird by the way -- like I am being inducted into the hall of fame or something.

Anyhow one last thing -- Leehu has picked the name: Judah Chaim Loon!!! Come on Judah -- get it done!! :)

Almost there!!!!!

We had our 35 week follow up yesterday and the vital stats are:

Baby's heart rate: 147
Mom's weight gain : only ONE pound since last time (total weight is 168/ 29 lb increase -- ahhhhh)

After an 'uncomfortable' (to say the least) exam -- it has been determined that the baby has dropped and is at a -1 position. I am dilated to almost a 2. And apparently the Dr. could feel the baby's head (yeah -- told you it was uncomfortable) at the opening.

Basically this all means that the baby is 1 cm away from being 'locked in' as they call it -- which is when he is in birthing position and is resting on my pubic bones just waiting to come out. Knocking on the door one might say!

The Dr says that she does not think I am going to go full term -- so anytime in the next few weeks we should be rushing out the door!!! As long as it is after May 3rd that is fine cause I have tickets to see the Lion King!

We took a tour of the birthing facility yesterday -- nicey! And we will be packing my hospital bag this weekend-- as well as ammonia salts for Leehu in the inevitable event that he passes out!

WOOO HOOOO -- here we come!

Vurping!

So here are a few more deterants for those of you considering pregnancy- along with all the excitement and joy comes a few more issues like vurping and shortness of breath.

I can not count the number of time I wake up in the middle of the night to burps and indigestion pain from a meal eaten 6 hours earlier! Apparently as he takes up more room he also pushes up into mmy stomach and the same hormones that relax my ligaments also relax the muscle in my esophagus-- thus burps all day, stomach pain, and vomit burps or vurps!

Along with this upward stomach pressure comes pressure pushing against my lungs- so either I am really really out of shape (so much that vaccuming makes me pass out) or my lungs can no longer expand into my ribcage!

Ahhhhh the joy!

Belly dancing!

So while in St. Louis this past weekend for the Final Four I attempted to catch on video the acrobatics taking place in my belly. Unfortunately baby boy takes after his mother in stubborness- cause everytime someone is watching, touching, or in this case video taping he acts like a statue!

No worries though- I will keep trying!

It is pretty amazing to see him move though- he especially likes to hang out on the right side of my belly- in essence making my belly look like a lopsided torpedo!

Also- we will get a ring for making it to the Final Four as well as winning the Big 12 regular season- so when we got sized in St. Louis I had the ring engraved with JCL- his initials - since he was such a big (and I mean BIG) part of this season! Plus I figure it will make it easier when I die- I mean it is all ready labeled for him!

Other baby info

Also- for those who are interested we have a few appointments coming up:
Maternity photo shoot on april 18th
Next ob appointment- April 16
Birthing class- April 25 I think!
Induction should the little bugger not come out in time- May 20!

Circus Circus!

So a lot of people have been asking about the baby's room -- knowing that I am sort of anal when it comes to room organization and decor it came as a shock to most that we were leaving it sage green and plain. I figure why spend hours painting a theme that the kid will inevitable hate --- I mean we paint it sports -- and he loves bugs --- we go bugs and he loves space..... Unending and unwinable. Sooooo-- in a compromise we have found wall decals!

How cool is this -- removable wall decals in all sorts of themes -- inexpensive, no wated time painting, and easy to change!!

The perfect solution-- in case ya'll were wondering we are going with a circus theme (appropriate for those who know anything of my upbringing) although curious george and bob the builder were close seconds. Leehu is hoping the kid love Bob the builder mostly cause Leehu secretly loves the decals of the backhoes and tools. Guess we will have to wait and see!!

Lent + Passover = no lunch!

So the problem of celebrating 2 holidays rears its ugly head again -- this time add pregnancy to the list and things are downright miserable on fridays!

Yesterday lunch consisted of potato salad and fruit -- and today before the snizzing incident -- it was a chocolate shake and french fries!

If this kids comes out and only wants junk food I blame religion!!

Back that thing up....

Umm -- yeah other things that they don't tell you when you get pregnant ----- give up on trying to back your car up at all let alone uphill into your driveway!

This belly does a number on decreasing your torso 'turnability'. You can no longer look over your shoulder to see anything behind you. My advice is have your mirrors in the perfect position, always pull straight through spots so you can just pull out, and if all else fails GUN IT!!!

Love hurts...... and so does my back, my butt, my ribs.........

So I expected some pain with pregnancy but it is the nagging stuff that kills me.

Can't ever find a comfortable position for longer than and hour. My ribs and upper back feel like they are being crushed from within. Th constant night time bathroom runs are not easing either -- based on my last post that may be a good thing! but hands down -- the most annoying things are the butt and crotch pain!

Man -- this constant ache in my crotch is unpleasant at best. Worst is when i am laying in one position and I go to roll to the other side -- and yowzah!!! crotch bone movement is never good.
This is only increased when the little boy decides to kick straight down in the vag----- stabbing pain there not a good thing either.

But the worst -- absolute worst is.....the butt pain!!! Now some 'dr's' would say that the pain I feel on the outside of my right butt cheek (insert stuffy british voice here)"is due to the increased pressure of the baby resulting in compression of my sciatic and superficial gluteal nerves". I on the other hand would like to say that I think it is cause my hugely increasing size of my all ready abundant 'tank a#@' is pushing cellulite to its limits and causing a burning aching pain in the butt!!

This nerve pain is no joke! Always knew my kids would be a pain in my a#@!!!!

Snizzing.........

Well I know that it has been a while since I have posted but in case you did not know I was a little bit busy with basketball -- which unfortunately came to a quicker end than I would have liked. Consequently these next few posts will not be chronological -- but rather a stream-of-consciousness work focusing on the experiences I have yet to share.

And here is a doozie!!!

So this afternoon I had the longest haircut of my life (1.5 hours and considering my hair is as short as Leehu's this is an amazinf amount of time). As such I did not have a chance to go pee before heading to do my errands.

I figured -- no big deal -- just heading to Hobby Lobby to get some scrapbook stuff for the baby -- how long could that take?? Well, as you can see by my naive comment above scrapbooking is NOT one of my main hobbies. So there I am -- 30 lbs overweight, immense pressure pushing down, and a full bladder. Unconscious of the impending doom I continued to wander the aisles looking for some meaning in the madness of this craft store. Needless to say over an hour later I headed to the checkout. Where -- of course -- to make it more difficult -- the lines were about 10 people long. So I waited..... and waited..... and waited....and then all of sudden the craft dust got into my nose and a sneeze was imminent!!

So lets do the math: full bladder + 30lbs of weight + unstoppable sneeze = snizzing!!! (sneeze + whizzing)

Yes my friends my first (and hopefully only) experience with a bladder that could'nt quite hold it all in and stand up to the pressure -- it is no Atlas -- in fact my Atlas "shrugged"!!!!

Oh well --- depends are on their way I am sure -- although I have learned a valuable lesson in pressure and physics.

Note to self : alway use the restroom before shopping!!!

And Twins!

25 weeks and counting!

Hello everyone!

Just an quick update that we had our 25 week follow up yesterday and the vital stats are as follows:
Baby heart rate: 147
Mom's weight gain: 21 (ahhhh) pounds!!
Dad's weight gain: undetermined...

The newest news is that I have started to have nerve and muscle ripping pain along the front of my abdomen especially at the top where it often feels like I am being singed with a branding iron -- I suppose a little more pleasant than that since there is no smell of burning flesh -- but I assure the pain is the same. Luckily my Dr. said not only is this normal as my nerves and muscles begin to stretch and rip to allow room for baby -- but that it will only get worse!!! Thanks goodness only 4 more months of this to look forward to!

On top of that she added another lovely gem of knowledge by informing me to expect a knife like pain searing from my uterus - through bajengo - into legs as the baby begins to kick my utuerus and bajengo. Man ... nothing like a sharp knife pain to look forward to ..... ahhhh.... the wonders of being 'with child'. She also said "expect to yell out in pain"... yeah really selling it to me doc!

On the plus side the little bugger is kicking stronger and stronger every day -- and either seems to love or hate lasagna as that spurred the largets kicking bout to date. An interesting factoid -- at this time the baby actually begins sucking in some amniotic fluid and can tatse what I eat -- I guess this is the time to get your kid used to the taste of veggies! He has more taste buds now that he will have for the rest of his life --- amazing!

Oh and names ..... we are narrowing down and the top 2 picks are Judah or Jonah. This way we can also call him J.C. for short (just like his boss --a jewish carpenter-- or like JC Chasez from legendary N'Sync fame!!)

On that note ... "Bye Bye Bye"!
Loon Out!
Oh and new belly pics are coming !

Drum Roll please.............

It is a BOY!!!!

Confirmed by ultrasound and Draino we should be expecting a baby boy on May 19th (yes moved up a week cause he was all ready 14 ounces 3 weeks ago!).

The ultrasound was an interesting experience -- full bladders and pregnant bellies do not go hand in hand but I guess it helps them see -- though I expect it would be easy to differentiate between the bladder and the uterus what given that one should have a skeleton and one should not! -- hopefully at least!!

Well we asked the lady not to tell us the gender and instead to write it on a picture and put it in an envelope for us since we had not fully decided that we wanted to know. So she asks us to look away when she is looking for the 'parts' and we do. Then she says we are done and I go to the restroom while she prints images out. When I come back from the bathroom she says she need a few more images so I lay back down and this time I can see between the baby's legs -- and I think something is there.....

So when we leave I tell Leehu that I think it is a boy at which point he informs me what happened while I was in the bathroom. Apparently she started printing the images but forgot to tell Leehu to look away from the screen. So sure enough he is watching in excitement as a proud pappa should when he sees the picture that she labeled "It looks like I am a BOY" comes across the screen. She quickly realizes her mistake as she prints it and moves to the next screen but she is too late. She asks Leehu if he saw the screen and he admits that he did -- at which point she begs him not to tell me ---- so...... A BOY it is!

We will be posting images soon although I must warn that one of them is a bit too close and it looke like Skeletor (for all you He-Man fans) -- big eye and skull but no skin!!! Ahhhh -- hope he comes out better than that!

Belly pictures coming soon too!! I now officially look preggers not just fat! Woo Hoo!

We have another Ultrasound this thrusday to check out Skeletor's kidneys and ensure that they are developing ok. Otherwise all is well -- just trying to narrow down names!

Suggestions will be accepted but not guaranteed!
